In the NewsOne of the nation’s top notch human rights and personal injury trial attorneys, who is also well known throughout the country as a humanitarian and philanthropist, hosted a working break fast Tuesday at Jackson’s University Club restaurant for the board of directors of two invigorating and new organizations founded by me, a recently diagnosed breast cancer patient and stalwart human rights activist. In an exclusive interview with the Jackson Advocate, atty, Isaac K, Byrd, Jr., says that he is excited to be part of the Rebirth Foundation, Inc and involved with its “activist” arm called the Rebirth Coalition, Inc. Byrd also said that he fully supports me and others as we begin to launch two separate groups-one a 501c3 charitable organization, and the other, a grassroots-type of activist group, yet, both designed to increase breast cancer awareness for Black woman specifically, the Ashkenazi Jewish community especially, and women, in general who Blacks, with a 36.3 mortality rate in the Magnolia state. Byrd continues to be a drum major of justice and equality via both time-wise commitment and financially. Byrd Receives Prestigious Ovation Award The Southern Minority Leadership Council (SMLC) bestowed its 2008 Ovation Award to Attorney Isaac K. Byrd, Jr. for providing continuous support of the Council at its Annual Awards Luncheon, Harrah's Convention Center, Tunica, MS. The purpose of these awards is to recognize those individuals who performed abov and beyond the call of duty without expectations of rewards or acknowledgements. The awardees exemplify the philosophy that 'unselfish dedication to all children benfits society as a whole'. The SMLC serves as the executive Design Team for he Annual Leadership Conference for Minority Administrators and the Southern Regional Miniority Leadership Conference. The Council embraces the vision of the conference which is to promote the academic excellence for all learners. OIA Presents Annual Philanthropy Convocation On Wednesday, January 30, 2008, the Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) presented its annual convocation, "Honoring Philanthropy and Volunteerism."
